Ameritech is an Alcatel account!!! This is a MULTI year contract going into 2001. I'm not sure where you are getting your information about Ameritech, but Alcatel's DSLAM is deployed.

JPC Finalizes ADSL Contract

December 20, 1996 -- Ameritech, BellSouth, Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell have reached agreement with Alcatel Telecom on multi-year contracts that will help the companies speed deployment of high speed data access services to customers.

The contracts, separate ones addressing the individual needs of each of the four companies, were signed with Alcatel today in Raleigh, location of Alcatel's U.S. design center for asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL)-related equipment. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Under the agreements, Ameritech, BellSouth, Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell will purchase the Alcatel 1000 ADSL system for deployment within their networks to deliver ADSL-based services to consumers and businesses. The Alcatel 1000 ADSL is an end-to-end solution based on the adjustable bit rate DMT (discrete multitone) transmission standard.....

Collectively, the companies anticipate this technology could serve thousands of their customers in the next year to 18 months, and could be in use by more than a million customers by 2001.

Until you can provide a report, I'll go off this one!!! The only thing I see are your opinions, which I disagree with. Provide a link to a report that indicates that Cisco in the #1 vendor in ADSL, HDSL or any DSL.

I see your are starting to sway on your original statement. I'm staying with my original statement:

"Alcatel is the leader in ADSL and Pairgain is the leader in HDSL".
