DIRECTV IS E-X-P-A-N-D-I-N-G
On Jan. 22, DIRECTV's parent company, Hughes Electronics, Corp., announced
that it had acquired the PrimeStar business and related satellite assets.
What does all this mean for you? Hughes' acquisition of high-power satellite
assets means we can expand DIRECTV channel capacity to more than 370
entertainment channels (transaction subject to the receipt of government
approvals). With this expanded capacity, DIRECTV will be able to offer
consumers an even wider array of new services. Some of the upcoming
services that we're planning include additional high definition programming,
interactive services and Spanish-language programming services.
