As further evidence of its commitment to delivering long-term, flexible solutions to customers, enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq:JDEC) today announced a new strategic initiative targeting companies in the burgeoning services industries.
The combination of J.D. Edwards' enterprise software solutions, interoperability strategy and ActivEra builds the foundation necessary for this deepened expansion into the services industry market. J.D. Edwards is focusing its industry-specific supply chain solutions on companies in the retail, banking, health care, insurance, hospitality, entertainment, business services, public services (local and state government and K-12 education), construction, engineering, real estate and mining industries.
Governing the initiative is J.D. "Thirty-one percent of our total client base falls within the service markets, many of whom are J.D. Edwards' longest term customers," said Ray Rebello, vice president of service industries at J.D. Edwards. "In 1999, J.D. Edwards will continue to augment the industry-specific functionality available in our enterprise solutions through technical enhancements and Idea to Action activators. We will also explore supplements to our internal development efforts with partnerships, equity relationships and technology acquisitions to offer customers a more comprehensive service solution."
