One should not assume that because DARPA is paying 13 mil for something that it's worth the outlay. Let's not forget we're talking about a government project. It's value usually has nothing to do with the cash spent.

Bowser Warrant Register just named a company called QC Optics to their 10 best picks. The description of company business is "laser-based defect detection systems/semiconductors". They are giving this company a 10 rating. JMAR is also still on their 10 best pick list but has dropped from a 10 to an 8 in recent months.

It sounds a lot like the JMAR work stations used to detect defects in hard drives.
