When I read an article like the one you published on Cable modems vs DSL, it gets me so irritated at the stupid local telephone companies!! They have procrastinated rolling out DSL for two years and now AT&T and others are going to steal their bread & butter local telephone services plus the new internet connection business.

The people running the local telephone companies have NO foresight. These companies are run like old governments. For instance, GTE in North Carolina is finally providing ADSL lines to the public, but only in one city for the entire state!! ( Durham NC ) What the hell are they waiting for? Damn!

I recently had GTE hook up my ADSL connection. While trying to purchase the service, I was passed around to three different groups at GTE that thought they were heading up the ADSL program, however neither one knew what the other was doing. They lost my purchase agreement information twice. When I originally tried to hook up, one of the GTE sales people told me I had to email my application in to the ADSL group because they didn't have a telephone number!! What a bunch of bozos!

I think AT&T will have great success hooking up people to their local service cable modems. It will be like taking candy from a baby.
