OT: I can't believe the government would consider this as a rational move. There is a conflict of interest for the government in investing CPP money, as they influence the stock markets by their monetary, fiscal, and economic policies. Artificial support for the market is not healthy. Complaints by analysts about inflated stock markets will be rampant if this approach is considered. New money flowing in and looking for something to buy sounds great initially, but what happens when that buying pressure subsides? I think we all know the answer to that. The Government would have to legislate to ensure that the CPP funds were not lost. The Government of Canada has already lost a lot of money for us Canadians, by "loaning" CPP money to the provinces and they are part of the government "family". Imagine people freaking out when the market dips occasionally, or drops suddenly worrying about their future. Could get really ugly.

The Ontario Teacher's Federation has enough trouble looking for stocks to purchase on Canadian markets let alone Government money.

The future of a lot of us Canadians is in question with this move. This is not an intelligent move.....but hey, it's the Government and one would expect rash decisions based on politics rather than logic.

Regards, Wisam

Thanks for the story John

I was never expecting to see any money from the CPP anyways. However you have to like the thinking about putting all our retirement money in stocks at the top of a massive bull run. When the crash final comes there is going to be hell to pay for this decision. I say we just break up the funds between the top day traders in Canada and give them a cut of the profits they make. Give me a couple of billion to play with...I will cross my heart to double it within a year.

Best Regards
KEITH
