I thought MCI and IBM were more responsible for the infrastructure investments that formed the internet. I know MCI made the earliest major installations of fiber optics lines. Vincent Cerf (MCI internet guru) was one of the earliest proponents and advocates. It makes me puke when I hear Clinton serving up applause lines for Al Gore's major contribution to networking America!
