FWIW.....The real story is that the US government had the net designed and placed into operation beginning back in the 40's or 50's. This was suppose to be the way our government officials would be able to communicate in the event of a nuclear strike on our country.

The beauty of the Internet is that there is no beginning and there is no end. It would be impossible for an enemy to pin point our leaders if they were driven under ground during such an attack. They would still be able to command our military forces and keep our government functioning at the same time.
