gz
do u know what happened before 87 crash
i mean whether there was any global crisises or outside market crisises to drag it down
cuz i m wondering we might not see 8700-8800 level without any bad factors from outside the market
can we just have a freefall because of the weak internal breath and too much bullishness

Hi, GZ

You make perfect sense ... I employ a similar methodology in trading equities.

I eyeball charts and estimate momentum emas and support emas as stocks come under pressure and will initiate positional trades so long as the stock's fundamentals remain robust, sector is in favor, and overall market context is stable. Anticipating the pivotal points and gauging market sentiment/momentum play a major role also.

Re: "I take a position and decide beforehand where I'll be wrong, then I let it run. This is a business, so I try to avoid emotional involvement with any trade."

Ditto. Except my coupling of the fundamentals to the other factors sometimes permit the position to have a greater margin for error than most traders would allow. Obvious pros and cons to this. I also seldom watch my positions so long as the equity trades as expected. As for avoiding emotional involvement ... well, I'm temperamental so enuf said.

You mentioned each factor adds a weight value to your final decision, which factors do you weight most heavily and do the set of heavily weighted factors change for various types of markets?

My regards.
