The lifting of PCS restrictions and the lifting of foreign ownership control in Canada, are two completely different sectors. Yes we will see the government lifting or discarding the measures put forth a few years back that were initiated to help foster infant cellular companies like Clearnet and Microcell. After all, it is Clearnet themselves asking for those same measures put forth to protect them years back, now to be lifted. I wonder why? The obvious answer is that they are poised for a takeover.

If you think that the CRTC will completely overhaul the foreign ownership restriction overnight, not a chance! Two completely different matters. This foreign ownership matter will eventually be amended but not for a while yet!

Clearnet will get bought out. Make no mistake about it! The company is willing to sell, that we know for sure. The new owners will indeed be Canadian. The CRTC is much more timid and shy than its U.S counterpart, the FCC and much slower to react to market pressures.

As I have stated before, the new owners will most likely be either Bell Mobility or BC Tel/Telus. BC Tel/Telus is a very aggressive company that is led by George Petty (Ex-AT&T Corporation executive). He is an excellent business man that is not afraid of stepping on some toes. Heck, it was him after all that challenged the Stentor monopoly in Canada and ultimately led to its demise with the Telus deal!!!!

As for the price, I do believe that we will see a price ranging from $28-35 for our beloved Clearnet. The company wants at least $30 and I personally do not think that is unreasonable. Both BC Tel/Telus and Bell Mobility have the money! Time will tell!!!

Good Night,
