A grim fairy tale:

Once upon a time there were some people who wanted to be rich. So they staked some claims in a far off western land and claimed that their property contained fabulous riches; gold platinum, silver and other pgms. They started companies and sold shares. Shareholders couldn't believe that they were going to be so rich. They developed their own language to communicate their expectations. Ad luna Alicia, 200 ducats por schare. All was good. The price jumped to 10 to 15 ducats.

Meanwhile the leaders of these companies were selling short in far off island communities. But low, the experts could not find the values in their black boxes and the stock dropped. The leaders said, "Oh well," and took their company shares and left, never to be heard from again. (They might be in those islands covering their shorts with their company provided shares.)

And amongst the share holders their was much wailing and nashing of teeth. And this continued until new leaders picked up the drum and said don't worry, be happy; the gold is still there and the Phoenix has risen and will deliver yet, send more money, buy more shares. We can do this again, I mean we can do this to you again, I mean trust us, we will protect and advance your investment.

And so with the right Arkansas wine, we will suffer through this again.

With all due respects to all misquoted and offended.

The Emperor
