>Can [AAPL outsourcing iMac production to LG Electronics] be interpreted as good news? Just wondering!!<

Yeah, I think so. The iMac is a finished form factor. Not much left to do but speed-bump the processor, plug in bigger hard drives and choose the colors till the next-generation iMac replaces it. Outsourcing will save $ and free up inhouse facilities for the high-margin cutting-edge stuff.

What I think is ironic here is that some Korean "chaebols" (LG was one) were rumored to be potential buyers of AAPL.

But that was before their economy imploded.

BTW, Jobs is dead wrong about one thing.

I'm sitting here typing this; watching NYPD Blue on my ATI Xclaim TV Tuner; and using Macintax '98 to do my 1040.

Since I got this TV Tuner, I watch my regular TV only half the time (I love this thing!)

When Jobs rejected "convergence" and said you use a computer to turn you brain "on" and a TV to turn it "off" he was wrong. About as wrong as he was about the importance of games to the Mac platform.

iMacs need a AM/FM/TV Tuner option -- PRONTO!

Think dorm rooms.

Can this be interpreted as good news?

If the figures are accurate I'd say yes, as they imply sustained iMac sales throughout the rest of 1999.
