Well aware that he will not find 67 votes to convict the president, he also knows 65 percent of the public wants the trial over last week.

Well, guess what? There was another of those House Manager idiots on TV today, saying that of the 65% who want Clinton to stay, 20 are actually Republicans who want Clinton to stay so that Gore doesn't become President!

With enemies like these, who needs friends?! :-)

Actually, Harvey, re:pity poor Lott, the washington post seemed to do so recently, drawing a profile of an orderly fellow, befuddled by chaos. Trying his damnedest to make republicans of all stripe come to the conclusion you mention.

The Post reported that he is man of regular habits, who doesn't much like fuss...according to his wife. When he goes home every evening, he pitches his briefcase in a corner, runs upstairs and gets in his jammies. Then runs back down to join his wife for dinner. Then upstairs again to read a few of those 60,000 pages.

I found this very funny, somehow....
