If you are hoping for a recovery like clarify, you'll have to be patient.

Vantive made a major strategic error in going directly after sebl and sfa. They stumbled badly in June and are beginning to refocus on their core strengths. There is a reasonable chance they can get back to growing the license side of the business, but that takes time to rebuild sales direction and focus. I have never seen a restart correction like this take LESS than 3 to 4 quarters.

I hope vantive is not for sale, because I think front office has the chance to be as important and powerful as erp and vantive should end up as one of the top players in this segment.

To Steve Farber: Takeover premiums are almost never more than 30% to 50% over trailing 30 day average stock price, so you'd be much better off waiting.

Vantive could pull off a clarify type rebound, but the comparisons don't get easy until June. Therefore, there's no reason for the company to push to blow out the numbers until then. In fact, it may make sense to just keep meeting expectations, since a period of blowouts just creates unfairly rising expectations.
