re Incyte...earnings

For the quarter ended December 31, 1998, Incyte reported
revenues of $36.6 million resulting in net income of $1.5
million or $0.05 per diluted share...
The net income for the quarter and year ended December 31, 1998
were impacted by the ramp up in expenses related to the genomic
sequencing and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) discovery
programs previously attributed to the Incyte Genetics business
unit. Excluding the impact of this business unit, net income
would have been $6.9 million or diluted earnings per share of
$0.23 for the quarter ended December 31, 1998.

--and it looks like they are not going to do the tracking
stock...Incyte Genetics, so perhaps the earnings estimates
were already excluding that?

biz.yahoo.com

So I am pretty sure that
earnings were forecast as .77/.21 and turned out .54/.05,
but we have to consider that they may actually have
been in line based in whether the Incyte Genetics
unit was supposed to be in there.

Followup... I'm not quite ready to start a
genomics thread...but I did start a gene therapy
thread just now.

Subject 25613

Like most of the genomics stocks (besides affx and incy)
the gene therapy stocks are generally not very tradable.
I've had some success trading them, but it was just luck.
Still, a very interesting area of biotech, and worth a
look, at least for investment ops.

As far as trading, you may remember my most recent trade
was a profitable position trade on tgen...I am looking
to re-enter that one...on a dip below $2.

all for now.
