Well let me read the rest. So far it's hilarious. There has to be something there. I haven't laughed like this in a while. This put the stock up 300%?

Looks like an upgrade to their existing line of Caller ID thingys, works only on home lines, kinda stylish product, qualified bios on the principals, except for the guy that grows grapes ! Flashback 3 months: "You know, we're in the wrong business, gotta get into internet, lets do E-Mail notification, yada yada." This PR has more detail than today's news:

notifycorp.com

Financially they're as out-of-shape as CIDCO, a pure play on Caller ID:

quote.yahoo.com

Although specific implementation of "multi-sense" would be patentable, I'm sure LU or anyone with half-a-brain could workaround that. Looks like any boost to short-term revs remote if "negotiation are underway to begin trials." Wonder what the whole package costs ? Why are "enhancements" required for freebie e-mail services ? Looks like an expensive solution to a non-problem, (or is that an answer to an non-question). Definately underwhelmed.

I read the rest:
This device will consist of an LED and modem capable of FSK (I'm not sure what standard of FSK these specs call for, (I guess it's V.22 most payphones use that for providing info back to the "home switch- PSTN").
They also have an alternative to detecting the "stuttertone" (see below).

It get worse look at this disclaimer (a no-go in my opinion):

"One is the cost of upgrading the switch to provide CLASS MWI signaling. Another limitation is the difficulty to distribute the CLASS MWI signal throughout the entire network. For subscriber areas which are distant from the CO, a form of signal repeater, or subscriber loop carrier (SLC), is often included in the network. In order to pass the CLASS MWI signal, these SLCs also need to be upgraded at a cost. A third limitation is the delayed MWI signal transmission when the phone is off-hook. If an attempt to transmit the CLASS MWI signal to the subscriber's VMWI is delayed because the
subscriber's phone is in use, then the switch does not attempt to re-send the CLASS MWI signal again for a significant time, from two to four hours. The advantage of timely CLASS MWI is lost."
