While I'm not one to trade in rumor, I'll pass on to the thread that in the CSCO conference call last night, in addition to reporting on their 40% growth quarter, John Chambers could be described as "excited" about the PBX transformation that is imminent in his mind, and he specifically mentioned call centers as a target for replacement with CSCO technology. Not very specific about timeframes, but when pressed by analysts in the Q&A, he indicated that CSCO will begin replacing their own PBX's in the branches starting (gulp - his, not mine)Q1 00 and complete in 2 years.

Of the many things said in providing guidance, my ears perked over the subtle cue's sent by Mr. Chambers around their positioning product for IP PBX and call center technologies. He did say that the large scale, i.e. 10K port systems are a ways off, 2 years likely. But branch and call center is another matter, at 12 -18 mos.

I bailed on ASPT back at 13, but am looking again at attractive re-entry here. Anyone seen a Jaguar in the ASPT lot lately?

cheers,

dd

Actually, (I'm not much of a TA analyst, so anyone can feel free to correct me here) it looks like ASPT is likely to drop down to 8 at least once more. There doesn't look to be any upward indiactors YET. But, I suspect ASPT is still being punished a bit.
