Rocketman, I think the following news demonstrates AOL's plan
for high-speed cable access, AOL can and will buy or partnership
with LOCAL cable or fiber company and chain them
together one by one whenever and whereever possible, and also
partner with big guy at the same time if possible, so the road map seems clear that AOL will not be quiet in this issue,
but they just want do it their way.

With Bell ATlantic, the east coast is covered, new partnership with
Bell Pacific and central, the whole contry will be covered too
sooner or later, plus the local cable deals, gees, I can only
see greater possiblity for AOL's stock price.

Metromedia Fiber, AOL sign
$10.8 mln pact

NEW YORK, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Metromedia Fiber
Network Inc. said Tuesday it entered a $10.8 million,
multi-year dark fiber lease agreement with America
Online Inc (NYSE:AOL - news).

America Online will lease a local fiber distribution network in the Washington D.C.
metropolitan area. The companies also reached a related agreement that allows AOL to
acquire additional dark fiber in other Tier One cities where Metromedia Fiber Network
is currently deploying infrastructure, the builder of fiber optic infrastructure said in a
statement.

I must conclude that the announcement regarding First USA is not really a big deal, because it simply extends an agreement that was already in existence.
