Lumber, nails, or labor??

I would suspect labor would primary, since I see placards and advertisements for carpenters, laborers, and other blue collar specialists everywhere.

This would be inflation in a particular sector due to the increase building that is occurring (due to low interest rates.)

But countered by other sectors, the overall inflation rate is non-existent, if not negative.

My father was a building subcontractor for 15 years, building houses, as well as doing custom remodeling in some very ritzy millionaire hideaways. I remember back in the early '80s how he was upset that when he bid a job at one price, he would find that the actual cost of those goods he required had increased in price by the time the project had begun. As a result his profit margins were drastically impacted since he was held to that prior bid price. That was when inflation was rampant and interest rates were double digits.
