smartmedia isn't rotating and it's been adapted to the floppy interface,
i remember an audio-cassette shaped device (tuner) being plugged into a cassette player and transforming it into a radio.

the fact that cflash is thicker than a floppy shouldn't be a problem.
just plug the floppy interface into the floppy drive and let the cflash protrude from it.

It would be do-able except CF is too thick.
