What can we say? Remember that poll back
in 1992 that indicated more Americans knew
the character "ET", than George Bush when
shown photographs of both of them? Perhaps
these polls do indeed tell us more about
ourselves than we want to know...

Les, you put your finger on the two biggest problems with taking the polls seriously, except as a practical matter. Whenever someone invokes the "wisdom of the American people" in all of this, I feel nauseated.
