StarBase Announces Agreement with Analytix to Deliver Agent-Oriented XML Products for StarTeam.com

SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- StarBase Corporation (Nasdaq: SBAS - news), a leading provider of Internet and intranet based technical collaboration products for web site application production and software configuration management, today announced a licensing and value added reseller agreement with Analytix Inc. to deliver advanced agent-oriented XML products that will integrate with StarBase's upcoming new product code-named StarTeam.com. The integration of the Analytix products will enable the analysis and optimization of XML-based web sites by StarTeam.com.

AgentML, from Analytix Inc., is an agent-oriented XML Application Server. It combines a sophisticated XML/HTML document-handling repository with a fast agent-oriented extended dialect of compiled JavaScript. This combination allows the high-speed manipulation, analysis and translation of huge quantities of complex dynamic data in XML form. The licensing agreement provides for the licensing of certain Analytix products for sale by StarBase and the licensing of the StarBase Virtual Team Server (VTS) to Analytix. Analytix plans to develop applications using AgentML that integrate with the StarTeam product line, specifically to enhance the XML processing capabilities of StarTeam.com. Analytix is also extending the AgentML products to directly integrate with the existing configuration management capabilities of StarTeam VTS. The first AgentML product, an add-on to StarTeam.com, is scheduled for general availability in the summer of 1999.

Brent Brewer, vice president of StarTeam applications stated, ''From the webmaster to the CIO, a recognized need for risk management has been articulated with respect to web production control. XML processing by AgentML from Analytix interlaced with the web production control capabilities of StarTeam.com will allow complex dependencies in the web site to be managed in the background automatically. This will greatly increase the success rate for companies looking to seamlessly transfer their mission critical applications to the web, while still maximizing their ability to leverage the value added capabilities that XML and other technologies bring.''

''We are extremely excited about working together with StarBase,'' stated Mike Korns, chief executive officer of Analytix. ''Leveraging the successful StarTeam configuration management capabilities with world class XML processing will provide an unbeatable value proposition for Web Masters in the fast growing Internet market.''

Analytix Inc. is a recent high-tech spin-off created to leverage the coming adoption of XML on the Internet and recent advances in agent oriented programming. Analytix owns exclusive marketing and distribution rights to AgentML, a powerful and mature XML enabled, agent-oriented repository environment developed over a six year period and which has been utilized in a variety of vertical market applications. The President of Analytix, Tim May recently joined the company from StarBase where he directed the development of the StarTeam Compliance Tracking System (CTS). Analytix is a California corporation with offices in Irvine, CA. Information on Analytix products can be found at agentml.com.
