<<... ability to build weapons of mass destruction is>>

Is..typical of your phoney expression of concern. You don't care about the destruction of innocent lives as your selective ignoring (source of your ignorance) of the pertinent details betrays.

Fraud, why don't you tell us what you really care about; Bill clinton, and his guardianship, which is not over the rights and freedoms of any creature on this planet. The US constitution was constructed for that purpose. He with the help of you and your vermin are trashing it.

<<<An expanded containment strategy? Iraq's got hundreds of trucks
<<<bringing in goods every week, especially across the border with
<<<Jordan. Why do you think that the US is so interested in stopping
<<<Russia and China from supplying Iraq with weapon technology
<<<and parts? It's because the US knows that it can't control Iraq's
<<<borders! An important method to slow Saddam's ability to build
<<<weapons of mass destruction is to cut off his funds.

The US has already been caught in the lie about weapons of mass
destruction. Over 90% of the weapons capabilities since before the
Gulf War were already destroyed. None of the targets were nuclear weapons or weapons making facilities. The targets were primarily armed forces most loyal to Saddam, and communications facilities. The purpose of the December attack was to try to foment a coup against Saddam. Now that the UN inspection regime is finished. The US got caught in a series of lies about the inspections. So, now the US has committed to a larger force to implement a containment strategy to attempt to put pressure on Saddam to remove him from office. As for Russia and China, the US has little influence on Russia and the US under Clinton has helped China with missile technology which has been exported to Pakistan, N. Korea, and other client states. Clinton pretty much burned all the bridges in December by not consulting with the other allies.

<<The US is not putting forth the premise that we're containing Iraq <<<since they're training and funding terrorists. So, your argument
<<<doesn't wash.

<<Saddam could give a damn about his people. If you allow Saddam to
<<get his hands on billions of dollars he will use those funds for
<<his own evil plans, just like he is doing right now.

You seem never capable to answer a response directly.

<<<This was a big blunder by George Bush. His other blunder was
<<<sending troops to their deaths in Somalia right after losing the
<<<1992 elections to Clinton. I will never forgive him for that.
<<<I would rather see a splintered Iraq then have the possibility of
<<<Saddam once again deploying weapons of mass destruction.

Bush was operating within the constraints of an international coalition. Noone wanted Iraq to be completely weakened. Turkey, Syria, and Iran don't want a Kurdistan nation to emerge from Iraq that would support local Kurd resistance in their countries. Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, and others don't want another Shi'ite Muslim nation to emerge from Iraq that might align with Iran. And all of the above wanted a buffer between themselves and an Iran that might seek advantage over a weak Iraq. Clinton is responsibile for changing the mission in Somalia into a personal vendetta against the warlords. Bush sent troops there for a humanitarian mission. This was changed by Clinton. As can be seen in Somalia, Bosnia, Vietnam, Lebanon, etc., nation-building is an impossible task for an external force. We already have the last 50 plus years of Mideast turmoil to thank for how the West divided up the Middle East and imposed boundaries.
