Hi Herm! About brokers. You might look into Scottrade at
scottrade.com -. They have a trading demo. The demo shows how to trade LEAPS I am enclosing a recent e-mail question and answer with them.

>> Since I have reached the 59 and 1/2 years of age, I am considering a conversion of my IRA account to a regular account. I will want to buy L.E.A.P.S, as a stock substitute, write shorter term calls, and possibly buy protective puts. Can I do this On-line with Scottrade? Any additional qualifications? Dick<<

Herm,

Hpeace tried to get me to sell covered calls last year but I really didn't thoroughly understand how to do it. I've been reading from the beginning of this thread about how you entered into your ROST trade and would like to do something similar.

I would like to hold MSFT for the long term and would like to know if you consider it a CC candidate. The only problem that I see is that the rate of monthly CC return is not so great. If I enter this trade in my IRA of CC'ing MSFT here is my plan.

I'll buy MSFT maybe a week before the stock split occurs like you did with ROST (except u bot naked calls I think).....anyway...the day after MSFT splits I'll sell upstrike covered call, and also buy protective puts, since the stock should be extended at that point.

Since this will be my very first CC...does this sound like a good plan or am I out in left field somewhere?...ggg

Thanks for any help...

Paul

I restablished some trading long positions today. Only looking for small profits for the next few days as they bounce off of support levels. Bought a few hundred shares of cube at 20 1/8 (200 dma at 20 which is where very strong suport is at) and 500 shares of amkr which I got at 11. 11 is the bottom of amkr's channel line now if you are looking at a chart. Unfortunately, it has resistance at 12, which is around where I plan to sell.

Just thought I should keep you all updated. Fed did not raise rates which is good for the short term for stocks.

good luck

Thanks anyway Herm. I got my answer to my question re: difference (of money rec.) in being called out of a spread vs. closing out early.
