"With Cendant trading on average 5-6 million shares per day during that period, I'd say there is plenty of other support out there."

How much of that 5 to 6 mil is buying vol? I would say MAYBE around 1/2. Thus, CD's 50 mil shares it bought is equal to around 20 trading days worth of buying if they were the ONLY buyers on those days. That is an entire months worth. You could figure that MAYBE 1/2 the buying vol was CD and that would give you TWO months worth of buying out of the last four. You don't think that sort of % of buying volume would lend considerable support to CD's stock price?

Site for buying volume:

If you are interested in seeing the up vol vs. down vol since 10/98:

clearstation.com

Also remember that the support CD gives to the stock price via its' purchases, create false t/a signals for the stock which attracts buyers who are not buying for fundamental reasons. Further, they are not even buying for t/a reasons because they are somewhat manipulated and therefore not accurate.

disclaimer: I own plenty of CD Feb call options so I am not a short seller or put buyer - just calling it as I see it.

Jay, I think CD has a lot going for it besides the buyback, but it has been a positive/supporting factor. the shares they bot are removed from the float. I think CD is well positioned here for a run to 24-26 and then higher. I am in it for the long haul, but did trade some from 20 to 22. Once the buyback is completed, we will lose that support. I don't think that will be a big factor. Larry
