SVGI and CYMI are partners and CYMI is in all SVGIs Mirascan III production tools. semibiznews.com There is all kinds of political posturing, advertising and PR being instituted currently by way of news releases with respect to where the next generation is going to be five years from now. Semi-equip companies are trying to lobby for their technologies in the hope of swaying industry opinion. I have no doubt that CYMIs current dominating position as the light source of choice by all the tool manufacturers places it in a monopoly position to continue for the next 10 years minimum regardless of the direction that the industry ultimately takes. As Akins said "there are currently 597 CYMI lasers installed. Our three professed competitors have a total of 12 lasers among them" (trial lasers for research and as a possible alternative). Anyone fool enough to bet that one of the five DUV tool manufacturers will risk losing the market by trying to be a lone soldier with an alternative light source from the industry standard will be taken out horizontally. Although continued improvement through R&D and CYMI vigilence is required the competitor battle has already been fought and won by the laser company who's name starts with the letter C. You get three guesses and the first two don't count. PS: It's the semi-equip company that has led the market since the October bottom from a stock price appreciation standpoint.
