Frank:For starters there was an in depth article in either Forbes or Fortune (don't recall which) about this and I posted it here many moons ago,if I find it again I will try and see I can post again here,can't promise anything but I will try for sure.

Personally, I believe that MMs cannot manipulate the stock price of equities with large capitalization and float (like DELL for example) profitably. Assuming rationality on the part of MMs, I therefore conclude that MMs will not manipulate the prices of such stocks. But others like CTC differ. Here's how it works according to him:
