the board meeting is march 10th..i called the company.

Any word on what they are having for lunch?

For my money, that's the most immediate decision that'll be made in that meeting.

The stock is not going to split then. There are not enough shares available at this time.

Everybody needs to say that and then click their heels three times. And maybe then they'll be back in Kansas.

JMO, but if the BoD were to send out a proxy following the March board meeting just to solicit shareholder approval to increase the # of authorized shares, only to send out another proxy three weeks later for the items to be voted on at the annual meeting, my first inclination would be to take them out and shoot them. :) Then if they survive the GSW's, then I'd vote them out of office. What a stinking waste of shareholder value such a move on the BoD's part that would be.

Microsoft is having a special proxy vote to increase the # of authorized shares so as to execute the announced 2:1 split now only because their annual meeting isn't until Nov. or so (they have a June Y-E). W/ MSFT's annual meeting so far away, that makes sense. In EMC's case, such a move would make absolutely no sense at this time.
