Fed keeps key U.S. interest rates unchanged

WASHINGTON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve kept key
U.S. interest rates unchanged on Wednesday, opting for a steady
course as the world's largest economy keeps expanding briskly
even in the face of turmoil abroad.
The Federal Open Market Committee's decision, which was in
line with market forecasts, keeps the federal funds overnight
bank lending rate at 4.75 percent, the level it has been at
since it was last cut by a quarter percentage point in
November. The discount rate on emergency loans from the central
bank remains steady at 4.50 percent.
