WATCH FOR THESE Y2K DATES

We don't have to wait until 12-31-99 to get some idea of the effects of the Y2K bug. There are several critical rollover dates that will occur before then. The following is a list of the dates where we will get a preview of Y2K effects:

March, 1999: Wall Street conducts widespread tests of its trading systems.

April 1, 1999: Canada, Japan, and New York State's fiscal years turn to "00".

April 6, 1999: Great Britain's fiscal year 2000 begins on this date.

July 1, 1999: New fiscal years begin in 46 states.

September 9, 1999: The special notation 9/9/99 has been used by some programs for other purposes than the date. This may trigger data processing errors, tape erasures, and security system shutdowns.

October 1, 1999: The federal government's fiscal year turns to "00".

January 1, 2000: All date-sensitive software encounters "00".

February 29, 2000: The leap year date that some software is not prepared to handle.
