...from CBS MarketWatch
Last Update: 1:27 PM ET Feb 3, 1999

PALO ALTO, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- E-Trade on Wednesday confirmed that some of its 676,000 active customer accounts couldn't trade and that it expected to fix the problem by early afternoon.

E-Trade (EGRP) representative David Murray told CBS.MarketWatch.com that its customers "have been unable to access the trading function on our Web site."

He said it's the first time E-Trade has experienced the problem in its seven-year history and that the company's technical staff has been working to correct the problem.

E-Trade shares fell 2 1/4 to 56 by midday on Wednesday. E-Trade posted a notice on its Web site requesting members make trades by calling in and placing orders through the company's service personnel.

Murray said the problem started at about 11 a.m. Eastern time. "We expect to have it up within the next few minutes," he said at about 12:20 p.m. "They've been working feverishly on it."

CAN YOU BELIEVE THE OUTRIGHT LIES SPEWED BY THESE THUGS!!

I agree that Power Etrade Platinum expanded trades, runs into more glitches. I also get ticked at the fact that you can't designate which lot to sell. Hopefully level 2 will be an improvement.
