HEX,

Most of my heavy trading has been with Schwab, and that is where most of my portfolio will be. I know that they are not the lowest price, but I now more than ever firmly believe that you get what you pay for. When buying or selling 1,000 shares of a stock, Schwab getting me that stock for 1/8 of a point better would save $125. That more than makes up for the difference of $19.95 vs $29.95 for the trade. And, Schwab gets me 1/8 to 1/4 point better all the time.

I did just fill out an application for Fidelity last week, because I want to try out the wireless trading with a 2-way pager. They said the service will be turned on this quarter. I asked Schwab if they planned to offer this, and it was just being considered. So far, I have been VERY happy with the customer service from Fidelity. I have not traded with them yet.

Hope this helps,

Bruce

<<I was thinking about Datek? have you tried them yet?>>

I use both E*Trade and Datek, and both sites (as well as Q&R and Waterhouse, which I used to use) have had down time during trading hours. Both also allow you the option of contacting a broker by phone to trade. Datek doesn't have any bells or whistles, little account information, etc. However, the trades are fast (any marketable order that doesn't trade within a minute is commission free - they don't even make you ask for the rebate), and the information on your account is real time (as are all quotes). If you are day trading, you might like it. If you are a buy and hold, the account information is inadequate.

Bruce ET AL, thanks for all the information. I'm going to sample as many broker trade interfaces that I can and see which one will be
my liking.

Thanks for the tips.

E*Trade's days are numbered.

Regards,

PS: I hate the new web interface.
