Paul,

Little clarification: on EV6 class machines FX!32 is running
translated applications in the 300 MHz PII range.

But I agree with you - the real reason someone buys an
Alpha is so that their main application (provided its
ported obviously) will run substantially faster than
on an Intel offering. FX!32 is a safety net that allows you
access to your second tier applications.
