Rumor is it was a Y2K problem that shut down ETrade.

Actually, this AM they were flustered, but offered only the on-line number (Dial-a-bid), which, BTW, did not work!!!! Forty-five min. later connected again. "OH, we found out we have a problem!" 180 sec. later- Commercial on TV-"Someday we'll all trade. Pres. Linda on TV doesn't answer the questions she's asked. Can't get thru to them EM or telephone. 4:00, president of ET is back on CNBC saying all but less than 1000 customers are fixed, and subscriptions have increased during debacle, but still doesn't answer ANY of their questions!!!!!!Have been on the phone listening to music since 4:10 waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ear got tired-wife holding phone, now. E*trade is THE limiting factor in being successful!!! Bruce
