I called MBT and got the same response. They claim they are updating their servers and routers, and do not want to put current customers at a disadvantage by overloading their system.

My take: They don't have the equipment in place to handle their current base, did not think they would grow this fast, and are preventing a disaster (e-turd today for example).

I've also heard a few complaints from daytraders about MBT being down lately. On the same token, MBT's downtime pales in comparison to Datek, E-turd & other web-based brokers. From what I understand, MBT's client support is above average.

While I respect their decision to protect their current clients, I am in desperate need of a real broker. I'm fed up with firstrade, and for the last 2 days I've been using my full service broker (The ole pick up the phone, place an order, pay high commissions deal).

Right now I'm checking out AB Watley, remote trading, polar, & a few others.
