Carl, having cancelled some trades with Web Street it seems that they acknowledge the cancellation over the internet but ask that you call a broker to confirm the cancellation. Did you get this notice and did you call a broker? I'll admit this is time consuming if you are in the middle of trying to establish a position. But your posting has the makings of a nightmare. Good luck with the law suit.

Carl,

I thought I had problems with Web Street, your experiences are an order of magnitude worse than mine!

I have had an account with Web Street for a little over a year and never had the kind of trouble that seems to be cropping up here lately. Since you had been doing 30-40 trades a month I assume that up until now you have had few complaints.

Something has gone fundamentally wrong with them in the last few weeks and the saddest thing about it is, they don't even care.

This part of your post was like deja vu:

"In fact, they were rude about it. One broker told me "look, you own the stock, too bad"."

That is exactly what I was told.

I am in the process of getting another broker. I haven't placed a trade with WS for over a week. Frankly, I'm afraid to do so.

Good luck to you. Keep us posted on the progress of your law suit.

Bruce

Sue their butts! I used to have an account with these crooks and it was a nightmare. You can see my complaints back at the beginning of this thread. Their "free trades" offer is just bait to get your order in their greedy hands. As you've discovered, once they have your order they will fill it if and when the market goes against you.

Do they still post on this thread posing as happy customers?

Hey Carl,
Sounds like a horror story to me. I must say though, I place many trades a day, and have had a great experience with Web Street. I heard someone post that if your having good service, why post it. Well I thought I would post about the good service I am having. I have and had accounts with Sutro,Datek, Dean Witter, JB Oxford, Lakeside Trading, Ameritrade, Schwab, Smith Barney, Paine Webber, and many more, yada yada yada. Hell, with Paine Webber, they just recently sold some 144 stock of mine at the end of the year, and forgot to file the rule 144 paperwork that I sighned. Now they want me to cover there mistake, and take a $30,000.00 loss on the trade. You can imagine how happy I am!! I have come to learn in the last year and so months, that I must keep on my toes with this online trading and broker trades. I realize the situation sucks some times, but I work thru it. If I need to get an attorney, I will. But make no mistake, any brokerage firm you go too is going to screw up. They all screw up, but I must trade, so I try to stick with the one that gives me the best service of all of the crap that is out there. They are all lacking, and hopefully they will get better technology soooonnn. Believe me, this is no plug for any brokerage firm, but just my experience with the ones I have done business with. They all have problems, but right now I use Web Street for day trades, and Paine Webber for my long term and strategic planning.
For what it is worth,
Bordelon

Thinking of opening an account at Web St. Can anyone tell me whether late confirms are still a serious problem, or have they improved?
