Ed,
what else are you investing in -- if you had the vision to pick out JDS Fitel at the IPO and you still own it -- you are "the MAN."

no guarantees, but what else do you own?

Edward,

Yes. There is a big difference between JDS/UNPH and Amazon and its crowd. JDS actually made money. So did UNPH and the new company will too. I believe the question of the internet bubble is not "if" but "when."

In markets when bubbles are forming, people look around for other often similar, products to purchase (e.g. in the present bubble, other high tech stocks such as JDS) and the prices of these goods rise irrationally too. When the bubble bursts, it is common for a wide spread drop in prices to occur. When this happens (well, really I should say "if" because it is an assumption, after all) a lot of people will be buying Amazon and it's gang on the way down until the final, and dramatic capitulation. Many of those companies will never come back. JDS is unlikely, I believe, to drop as far and as fast. And, JDS will come back. I'd not bet on Amazon, though.

Ciao,
David Todtman
