Tim,
I can't buy DELL unless I sell some MSFT or NSCP. What should I do?
I sold DELL to buy AOL at 150 presplit in NOV. I just bought MSFT at 155 the day they announced earnings. So I'm watching MSFT profits evaporate and DELL going higher.
I love DELL and most of the $$ I have came from DELL. I just got so frustrated last OCT/NOV when the market took our baby out and shot it (down 20) on OCT 8 and I was forced to sell some due to a margin call but hung on to the rest only to see DELL beat est. announce a split but miss the whisper # and go nowhere.
I made the right decision then to rotate into AOL. Now I wonder if I should get back into DELL. I just don't see how it can manage to exceed that imaginary whisper # and avoid the selling on the news that has plagued it and most of the tech bellwhethers lately. I'm afraid that whatever the earnings are, we'll find out the next day that somebody's number (that they made up after DELL reported earnings) was a few pennys higher and then down we go! God help us if we don't get the stock split that all the momo players running the stock up are looking for. IMHO DELL will have to be over 120 to have any chance of getting a split announcement with earnings. Can we get there by the 16th? If the momo guys determine they can't push it high enough to assure a split will they start to sell before the earnings, especially if the .coms start running again?
I love this co. but am just a little gun shy from what happened to me around the last report. Thanks,Lee
