G*, if I remember correctly, expects a loss of one per year. They have no reason to believe that these sats will fail any more often than their GEO sats. Iridium initially built in the losses for things like launch failures or losses post-dispensing. The losses due to momentum wheels and such are a surprise. G* sats obviously use momentum wheels and thrusters, just not the same kind as Iridium! I also seem to recall that G* sats use 3 momentum wheels(?) and Iridium just one. One of those common sense issues would be that Motorola is a rookie in sat manufacture, SS/L a veteran. Motorola will get better as they go along. No doubt they use different momentum wheels now!
