[LU SLC2000]

From what I read on LU website, the SLC2000 solution requires either the LU/WSTL standalone DLSAM or integration into the 5ESS switch. There are over 100 million lines served from 5ESS switches. Why would RBOCS buy stand alone DLSAM (Supervision I believe) if they can just put a line card in the SLC 2000 or 5 and then put another in the 5ESS? Seems like a no brainer. What am I missing?? Are you suggesting that SLC 2000 is more lucrative because customer are opting for stand alone DSLAMs?? Some technical "english" description beyond LU website description of solution may be in order.

[PR]

It's not surprising that WSTL does not get a lot of press. If you go to the website, they direct you to download the "press kit". Unfortunately, it is totally incomplete. The website has more empty/under construction web pages than those with content it seems. Not one install is listed in that section. That is very POOR!!! The annual report at least lists GTE, BT, and BC. If you have any contact or pull with the company, please get them to provide a sufficiently professional website PRONTO!!!!!

Look at AWRE and ORCTF websites. They toot their horn.

Dr...<problem is there is very few analyst covering WSTL and therefore no
leakage> This has been a problem for quite sometime...MAybe there is a good reason why analysts are not covering WSTL...Maybe like they get no #'s from WSTL and have to go by qtr results which have only been getting worse? Maybe there is nothing to follow at WSTL? Maybe they are sick of all the promises, which never pan out? Promises from the RBOC's and Chip manufacturers like TI and MOT?

<WSTL is at BEL with DMT>...Ok, lets agree that WSTL is at BEL for DMT (CPE)...Problem is WE will be lucky if BEL even mentions WSTL in a press release (Unless WSTL pays for another tombstone ad patting themselves on the back) and further...WE HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF SEAMANS RETURNING TO WSTL THEN WSTL DISCLOSING ANY #'S ABOUT BEL DEAL! Which only leaves those one or two analysts who are still somewhat interested in WSTL GUESSING AS TO HOW MUCH $ WSTL CAN MAKE OFF OF BEL DEAL...So now the analysts are back waiting for qtr results which puts us into April in which case they will most likely be disappointed once again...A VICIOUS CIRCLE!

After reading through your old posts dating back to your very first on April 2, 1998 to Neal Hopper, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO:

Nov. 4, 1998 <WSTL has MOU's with DELL,CPQ,AAPL,CNET and HWP>?

Oct. 27, 98 <but what if BC started using someone else with ALA>?

Oct 18, 98 <The lockup or BO period is still ON and MZ thinks it could run for the remainder of 98>?

<LU product ready for sale in Nov. and should see things from LU on this>? Thas was Nov 98 right?

Sept. 22, 98 <I also feel GTE news is cause of BO>?

<WSTL is about to have a revenue explosion>? Positive or Negative? Negative you were right..They exceeded losses!

Aug. 12, 98 < GTE finally saw the light on WSTL's ability to deliver on promises and they will use WSTL's product for ILC too>?

<LOAD UP because when small cap hell is over and GTE ILEC lets the news out>??? Small Cap Hell was over long ago and seems to be happening again...

July 22, 98 <WSTL aggressive RFP for Sprint ION>?????? Have asked you several times in the past.

<bronze coin family interest in company sale>???

July 16, 98 <WSTL has initial 5ess orders to be manufactured thru Dovatron in NY>? I have a REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS STATEMENT!

July 3, 98 < Now for what is real important, 3 potential suitors I think you know my view on 2 of them...stock goes to 15ish we get 28 to 30>? Cents?

July 1, 98 <WSTL has big upside! Company is up for sale>? Yard Sale?

<Will it be LU or ALA...This boring stock is about to lift off as soon as the street wakes up and hears that WSTL is up for grabs> <WSTL thread will be gone soon> by the way the stock price was $9 3/8 that day...That really HURT!!!! BIG TIME!!!

June 12, 98 <I wouldn't be surprised to see WSTL name start to appear in LU PR>?

June 19, 98 <READ MY LIPPS...BEL deploys CAP till year 2000...That will be alot of $$$ for WSTL>? Didn't anticipate forward pricing?

June 3, 98 < Sprint has a good amount of LU switch equipment already installed>?

May 28, 98 <JUNE ICG comm announces summer install of LU-WSTL 5ess switch> What ever happened to this one????

<US WEST has ordered some litespan-wstl switches>?

May 26, 98 <TXN and MOT chips ready for summer>? 1999 or 2000?

May 19, 98 <LU is so huge. LU will use LU-WSTL-for BEL and ICG>?

May 13, 98 <Does anybody know who BT's most installed switch is? It sounds like it could be a (LU type deal opportunity) in the UK>?

May 11, 98 <Meanwhile LU will be upgrading BEL's CO's for ADSL 5ess switch/SLC 2000 and DSC will be upgrading BEL's litespan ADSL switch for CAP/DMT interopability. This will prove to be very cost efficient for BEL and could set an upgrade trend for all telcos. BT has similar deployment plans with WSTL as BEL does!!!>?????????

May 7, 98 <LU stratey means big $$$$$ for WSTL>??????????

<LU 5ess switches for all current LU customers...HUNDRED MILLION LINES> and nobody is interested...why, why, why, why??????

<However don't think somone like BEl won't purchase a stake in WSTL first> WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT DEAL??? I HAVE ASKED YOU A THOUSAND TIMES ABOUT THAT ONE????

May 6, 98 <When DSLAM is ready LU salespeople will have a field day in upgrades for the 5ESS. This will be a easy sale to their customer base> I guess not so easy????

April 23, 98 <GTE ILEC wants more Flex-cap to expand Remond, WA trials>?

April 21, 98 <the internet will be stagnant for sizable commerce until the industry widens the pipe with broadband services> Oh well???

<I hope to see both MOT & TI have proble free working chips by May>? May 99 or 2000???

April 6, 98 <The increase in authorization could allow an strategi partner to show westell the money and buy say 10-20% of the company...give interested companies a real possible chance at aquiring WSTL>?

April 5, 1998 <If RFP for JPC contract was done now WSTL would have won...>? Do you still believe that today???

April 3 98 <Flexcap still shipping strong to canada (sorry ALA) chips are always a problem and real deployment will go to the major chip boys (Mot, Ti)-westell>??? What was that???

April 3, 98 <Of yes watch for westell to put a bottom in place and this time the upside will stick>? MY ALL TIME FAVORITE...BY THE WAY, STOCK WAS 12 5/8 THAT DAY!

SORRY DR. TO REHASH, BUT WHEN YOU WRITE IT YOU NEED TO STICK BY IT!

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED TO SOME OF THESE "IMHO"'S!

>> Take a look at feb 96 and feb 97 both were the first month of a very good moves in WSTL stock , I have the same expectations for feb 99

Feb '96--I can't believe you can bring up a stock just post IPO and compare it to today! So i guess we bail out all those holders who thought the stock was worth 10 times what it is today?

Feb '97 -- Well whatever chart your looking at -- throw it away. WSTL bottomed under 10 in March '97 after it fell in straight line from Dec. highs of like 30. Then had a typical oversold rally to half its previous
annual high. Such a rally today would get us back to 8,if we had the same oversold condition.

In Feb 99 -- we have a soaring weekly stoch ( nearly overbought if you can believe that at today's price), not near zero as in MARCH'97.
And ,of course, being a chart reader yourself know we cannot talk stoch in '96. Now we can recreate that oversold condition from here, but I doubt you want that!

No, rather it seems the stock is at the end of an exhaustive move off of the oversold October condition. The move could produce that $10 figure but it will rollover ( right at the LT trend line). In fact without a significant breakout, the wedge formation is a continuation pattern for the LT downtrend. short of positive news ( of explosive variety ) the oversold condition should win out over the next month. The biggest positive is the volume and WSTL needs another upsurge with it.

Maybe you could convince the powers at be to look at the chart and time their good news for the sake of those who have been so patient.
