Wireless providor pepdata.com Modem is $159 and up and the service is in the $20-$25.00 per month range. I have used it and it's better than you would think. Slower connect speeds but a more constant feed. i.e. connects at 28,800 but doesn't pause much like a traditional ISP connection.

Wireless is very viable, as a strandalone phone service, widespread in Europe and soon as a take the internet anywhere service. The possibilites are pretty awsome, from auots to intelligent cell phones.

However wireless will never replace the backbone, at least not until the sattelites really get going. But as a last mile technology, extremely compelling and available today.
