IDO To Provide Internet Access From
CdmaOne Phones

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Nippon Idou Tsushin Corp. (IDO) plans to
offer Internet access from the cellular phones used with its new
cdmaOne digital wireless service, which is slated to start up in
April.

The company will equip some of its new-model cdmaOne
terminals with U.S.-developed wireless-application-protocol
technology, which allows users to access Internet functions such
as e-mail and Web pages directly from the cellular phones. The
WAP-compliant terminals include a liquid-crystal display slightly
larger than those in the company's standard cellular phones.

The eight cellular-service companies of DDI Corp. (9433),
which have teamed up with IDO to offer cdmaOne service
throughout Japan, also plan to offer WAP-compliant terminals.
