yah, the net congestion can be a little frustrating.

it reminds me of my first experience with the "web" back in the early 80's. - not really that long ago -

a friend of a friend was the only one among us who was computer savvy at the time, i forget what service he was using,...but we would gather around the 14" "key hole" of a monitor, and while we sipped our red whit & blue, wait for an e-ternity (10-15 mins) while his 8088 downloaded funny pictures from some obscure site,

the quality of resolution of those "stills" is comparable to the livecast we are seeing today....

in other words, "you ain't seen nut'in net, baby"

regards,
digger

"How they 'made' Victoria" Dept.:

From the "Wall Street Journal," as posted to YHOO...

BAM

"It was an ad campaign that shamelessly pushed every imaginable button for an end-of-the-millennium male human. Scantily clad women! Wall Street! The Internet!

And like Pavlov's dutiful dogs, men everywhere responded with a wave of attention to the matter at hand: a Wall Street "fashion show" for Victoria's Secret, broadcast live on the Web.

Broadcast.com, the company handling the transmission, said it was expecting even more Web visitors than it got on Sept. 21, when about a million people viewed videotapes of President Clinton's grand-jury testimony. It bought an additional 120 server computers to handle the traffic, for a total of more than 1,000 servers.

The final audience count wasn't available Wednesday night, but it was clear that the retailer of racy lingerie had successfully bought a lot of attention."
