Circumstantial evidence leads me to believe that SI did address the problem by telling Cheeky to take the re-direct HTML out of his profile.

Case closed. Quit making mountains out of molehills.

I agree with this suggestion:

Possibly a "pop-up" advising us that we are being taken out of SI. AND, an option to cancel. Only seems fair.

as I believe that it is consistent with what other well-designed sites have done.

While I have enjoyed some of the more creative profiles here, I think that SI should provide a warning when a profile link goes off site.
(Or, perhaps, SI might separate a member's posting history and the customized profile into distinct pages...with an acknowledgement that SI is not responsible for anything on a profile page)
