What BS! ****************************************** ETRADE Someday, we'll all invest this way ****************************************** Dear Sir: For a period of time this morning, Customers were unable to enter orders through the trading page of the ETRADE web site. Trading through the company's interactive voice recognition system was also affected for part of the period. The issue was specific to our trading functionality. Throughout this time, ETRADE Customers, members and visitors continued to be able to access other content areas of the site, including news, quotes and charts. In addition, at all times, ETRADE brokers were taking orders over the phone from our Customers. The issue was not related to volume or to ETRADE system capacity. Rather, it was caused by a software change which had been installed Tuesday night, and which malfunctioned. Once the diagnosis was complete, ETRADE immediately backed out the software change and service was restored across all electronic channels. We want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
