Edwarda, thanks for the clarification. Good to get
some intelligent info for a change.

Seems to me though, that even with poor visibility being a
problem, this was a well known factor. I also wonder how
the analyst is doing his check of the channel. Seems sort
of an anecdotal way of checking. The difference in opinions
on the checks would seem to vary, unless they have a very
sure-proof way of checking. We already have a few reiterations
of previous estimates, and I would think these analyst have
spent the last day or so checking their channel contacts
like crazy.

Still, it would seem the channel checks would have to indicate
*very bad* results, since it is assumed that checks at this
time would be somewhat slower. AND ALSO, tech sales in general
have been very good. Capital spending on hi-tech is
increasing, not decreasing. The larger macro scene, to me,
indicates that there is MORE spending on NETWORKING than
before.

Networking equipment is *A MUST* in all businesses now. A
business can not be successfull without constant upgrading
of its system. I see this everywhere. Even with the Y2K
problem, I doubt networking equipment usage will slow down.
NETWORKING is too embedded in the productivity of the
business world. AND, it is too big a factor now in the
consumer home usage of the internet.

A major slowdown in INTERNET products seems somewhat inconceivable
to me given how much the INTERNET has grown even in the last
few months.
