Tippet,

V's made right off a peak are extremely ominous, as we've seen many times with Oct. 97 being the best example. For another excellent example, check the 8/18-8/24 1998 timeframe, as that V proceeded the greatest multiday slide we've seen since '87.

notice also how in 97 after the Aug 8th selloff that the NAZ and S&P went on to new highs and the DOW was an anchor....look familiar?
it is not a good thing when the backbone Goliath smokestack DOW companies are lagging
