Radical environmentalists have called for scaling back the population to 100,000 people, and have booby trapped trees in ways that have killed and maimed loggers. I was referring to the echo of radical environmentalism in the book, and the Unabomber came to mind as a hyperbolic and well- known representative of the radical point of view.
