I thought of a couple of instances you might have had vaguely in mind for you:
1.) I compared Daniel's rush to construe the story in the NYTimes as conspiratorial with McCarthyism. Since that has become a common term for reckless charges, especially of conspiratorial behavior, and that is what I was accusing him of, it was appropriate.
2.) I said that late term abortions had contributed to the actions of those girls who abandoned their babies to die at proms. Right or wrong, it was a fair speculation. I also may have called late term abortions infanticide (I can't remember), but if so it is simply that I believe it to be so.
In any case, that's what I came up with, and neither is a straw man.
