Does it make sense to you?

It sounds like they may release a change in bias if they feel the need to jawbone the market. Seems pretty obscure. Like they have to have a new way to deal with the extraordinary situation of an overheated US stock market, an overexcited US consumer (based on stock market returns at least in part), yet a fragile bond market, and fragile world markets and economies.

An obvious attempt to manage expectations.<g>Looks
like they're trying to act like the Germans and yet print
money like the Brazilians.<g>

I keep studying...

The first capitalized section WHEN THE STANCE OF MONETARY POLICY REMAINED UNCHANGED makes sense to me. In other words if they had raised yesterday, it would be crystal clear that direction had changed. So they don't have to state the obvious. It is only when they don't take a rate action that they might advise that the future bias has changed.

Bill, good morning. Did you talk to Tony Dwyer about posting here? Tell him mythman's bark is worse than his bite. <g>

You were just on AP newsradio talking about naz indicies being way beyond 40 week moving averages...and a correction being normal...but they are further beyond normal correction territory, so you feared that the correction might be more severe than a usual one.

had to stir up a little entrails, huh <g>
